Walt Le Couteur

I was raised in a godly home as a Catholic. So I knew about God and attended church regularly. I left home right after high school and joined the Navy. Then trouble began, I picked up the language and habits of the culture and found myself deep into alcohol and pornography. When I met my wife in 1967, while at Navy training in San Diego, CA, I was well on my way to becoming a binge-drinker. For the next 4 years my wife and I did not spend much time together, but when we did she lived in a very uncomfortable atmosphere and often would spend the night with a sick drunk and had to clean up after me.

When I left the Navy in 1971, this life style continued for a short time and then I met a man that I wanted to be like and he was a Christian. Kenny Towne was my brother’s father-in-law and the example that led me to question who I was and what I was doing with my life. I finally surrendered to Jesus and began to walk with God in 1973. The clean-up process (most of it) took a long time and it was several years before the bondage of alcohol was broken in my life. I discovered that Jesus doesn’t want me to wait until I was all cleaned up, but wanted me right where I was at so that He could clean me up. I am still dealing with issues of the old life style, but have made myself available to God’s work in my life. I now want to be the example that Kenny was to me and hopefully allow others to see Jesus through me and want to have what I have found. I can now say that "I am not what I want to be, I am not what I am going to be and thank God I am not what I use to be".

My mission now is to let others see the good works in me and give glory to God, our father. I want to share the fact that God wants us to accept Him right where we are at so that He can send His Holy Spirit to do what we cannot -- change.

My childhood years were lived in fear due to fighting and alcoholism in the home. I attended church with my sister and brother and when in high school accepted the Lord as my Savior at a friend's church. After high school, I joined the Navy. While in the Navy, I went the way of the world though I never quit going to church. In 1967, while stationed in San Diego, California, I met and married my husband, Walt. Because of long sea duty assignments for Walt and my needing love, I fell into adultery. However, once Walt came home to stay, our love was renewed and now we have been married for over 37 years

In the early 70s I re-dedicated my life to the Lord at a Nicky Cruz Crusade in Newaygo, Michigan. Since then it has not been an easy road for me what with having to overcome so many fears and losing two infant sons to death. Thankfully, the Lord is faithful and He has never given up on me. One of my favorite bible verses is Ps. 30:5b: "Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning".

In 1992 Walt purchased a motorcycle and we started riding with a group of bikers who belonged to the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA). The more miles we put on the bike, the more I found that I really liked the biking world. Walt surprised me one day in the spring of 1993 with a bike of my own. It was a 1986 Honda 250 Rebel and just my size. I was in my mid-40s when I learned to ride and it was only with the Lord's help and Walt's encouragement that I was able to accomplish this. We moved to North Carolina that Spring and I received my endorsement to Ride a motorcycle in June that same year. The Lord began to open new doors of ministry for us and He began to stretch ne and take me out of my comfort zones.

Since becoming a motorcyclist, my confidence level has grown, right along with that my love for the Lord. Hopefully, Walt and I will be able to continue riding for many years to come and continue to be in the biking ministry till the day the Lord calls us home.
